Ohrid 365 art residency, Ohrid, Macedonia

Ohrid 365
A walk up to a scenic viewpoint, Galicica national park

About the residency
Visual artists, writers, directors, composers, are invited to apply for serene 3 weeks / 1 month residence, in the heart of the UNESCO world´s heritage of Ohrid.
Ohrid lake is the oldest and one of the deepest lakes in Europe. Its crystal water is the only home of 212 endemic species surviving the past 2 million years. Galicica national park rising just above, is like a brave mother observing her children - the two lakes Ohrid and Prespa on each side of the mountain. Together with the old city of Ohrid they became one of the 35 world´s heritage sites recognized by UNESCO for it´s natural and cultural legacy.

The residency is placed in a few generation old house of writers, artists and travelers, build in the 70´s and still keeping the same spirit. It is located in a quiet neighborhood 8km outside of the city, in the feet of the mountain and by the lake shore.
We can host 3-4 residents at a time, between September and May each year.
We would ask each resident to pay a fee for the use of the facility (approx 25 eu/day). In return we offer a private room/studio of 20m2 / shared bathroom / sharing kitchen/ spacious common room with green yard and few chilling verandas. On the house we offer our residents 1 meal per day and cooking ingredients free to use,  inspiring talks, hikes introducing the area and all sort of outdoor activities.

As Ohrid is facing rapid urbanization and unplanned construction of the shore, we would give priority to artists willing to express the ecological concern for protecting the lake.
